Ella Hartwig is a singer/song-writer originating from Cooktown, Far North Queensland. The young small-town musician writes and performs her original indie/folk songs at local venues, weddings, celebrations and further music festivals in recent years. Her growing passion includes experimenting with a variety of instruments and genres, such as guitar, piano, bass, ukulele, banjo, mandolin and seemingly whatever she’s able to get her hands on. She aspires to record and release her music in the near future.

‘Legends of Perhaps’ are an Indie/Folk/Pop group hailing from Cairns flaunting vocals, guitar and saxophone, synth, piano, bass and drums. After debuting their self-titled album in 2017, the track “On Jupiter” hit no.1 on BalconyTVCairns and Top10 Worldwide and was a Queensland Music award finalist. Amber wrote the song ‘Symphony for Tomorrow’, and performed it with the ‘Queensland Symphony Orchestra’. She was selected as a ‘Big-Sky Girl’, facilitated by SUGARRUSHMUSIC, Sony/ATvmusic APRAAMCOS and Qmusic allowing her to record with Jeff Lovejoy at ‘Black box’ studios along with Joel Alexander from ‘Bullhorn’, Tyrone Noonan ‘George’ and Roz Pappalardo ‘Woman in Docs’’.

Tumbuna music is music passed on from our ancestors. The post-modern Bwongu band is a fusion of jungle and western beats. Tumbuna music was the frontier of world music in 1970 and has developed into the genre as it is known today.

Tinderbox the groove powerhouse, which is a seamless fusion of dub step, drum and bass and hip hop. was seeded within the epic freestyle jams that would take place within The Umalicious stall which was somewhat of a feature for many years at The Rainbow Serpent festival. The space was like a musical free form interdimansional watering hole, where. a horde of Australias finest performers, DJ’s and musicians would come together and unleash  a heartfelt epic freestyle groove tapestry. And now a few years on the musical amalgamations that were formed in that little pounding sound of tent have strengthen and  formed into  the music that is Tinderbox.

A 5 piece consisting of Umalicious the original driver of the mothership, who is reputed as one of Australia’s most prolific and edgy song writers as well as arguably  being one of the most dynamic freestyle Rappers Australia has ever seen. Umaliciuios aka Uma Vernau,  is also the drummer and vocalist in the band Savidas. Who had acclaim with their CD Piece by Peace and have toured extensively up the East Coast of Australia.  Gumpy is the mad scientist of Tinderbox, also know for being the fiery front man of the rock band Blind Munkee and for being the singer and guitarist in the band Savidas  as well as having numerous credits  in Australia and internationally as a music producer. having based for a number of years in New York. . Tiderbox also features the vocal stylings of Melbourne’s number one club diva Miss Baby Lemonade, who has become infamous through Melbourne clubs for her raspy powerful bluesy voice and somewhat of a gay icon having performed at Midsummer pride festival, and bringing her amazing voice and monumental glamour to a host of underground party’s, Tinderbox’s most recent member the guitar virtuoso  Isaac Scott hailing and wailing his sound from Perth to Cairns is famed as a one man symphony of sound, mixing a cacophony of musical styles and cultures in  his epic vocal,guitar,beatboxing solo performances . The drummer and the spine of Tinderbox is  Adam Wickel who has been hailed as a rhythmic power house, he is an organic funk machine seamlessly mixing an ebb and flow of rhythms and styles and is the heart beat of the infectious originality of the Tinderbox groove.

Our Story

Wallaby Creek Festival is a 3 day celebration of music and the arts, surrounded by the beautiful heritage listed wet tropics rainforest of the far north. The festival has been held in the middle week of the September school holidays each year just south of Cooktown. 2021 will be our 19th birthday.

The three day program offers music on two main stages, a third stage and jam/chalkboard stage, Poets Breakfasts and a packed workshops schedule, Circus, Dance, Roving street theatre, a complete children’s festival, delicious food stalls, healing spaces & market stalls and croc free swimming in the Wallaby Creek complement the entertainment.  Camping is included in the three day festival with bush showers and toilets. Wallaby Creek Festival is a wonderful family-focused event.
